JOB TITLE: Controller

We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the accounting operations for two entities: Bottle Logic Brewing and its sister company, Anomaly Beverages, which specializes in hemp-derived THC seltzers. This position is critical to ensuring the financial health of both companies and will serve as a key strategic partner to the CEO. The Controller will lead and develop our accounting team, currently composed of two junior AR/AP Clerks, while managing financial systems, compliance, and reporting. The annual pay range for this position is between $100,000 and $125,000, depending on skills and experience.
YOUR general duties WILL INCLUDE, BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
Maintain and oversee the General Ledger (GL) for all entities, auditing entries to address key questions about profitability and efficiency.
Perform reconciliations, investigate irregularities, and ensure the accuracy of financial accounts.
Establish and manage a system of standard costing, including analysis of raw materials, overhead expenses, and labor costs. Conduct variance analyses and report findings to the CEO.
Create and monitor financial controls, manage cash flow, oversee credit accounts, and lead budgeting and forecasting processes.
Review, investigate, and correct errors in financial entries, reports, and documents.
Prepare and submit monthly excise, sales, and use tax filings for all locations, ensuring proper entry into the accounting system.
Act as a secondary liaison with external accountants, banks, lenders, and other financial entities.
Establish and oversee physical inventory count procedures and policies for all locations.
Manage accounts payable by compiling amounts owed to vendors, ensuring timely payment, and communicating with vendors and internal staff for accuracy in order reconciliation and inventory counts.
Protect and ensure the security of vendor and contract information.
Collaborate with the CEO to develop departmental budgets and monitor expenditures to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Assist the CEO in preparing year-end financial statements and monitor compliance with accounting principles and company procedures.
Train and develop accounting staff, providing mentorship and guidance to improve their skills and understanding of the business.
Respond promptly to critical business communications and maintain professional relationships with vendors and staff.
Identify and escalate systemic issues requiring immediate action to the CEO.
Supervise accounting staff and ensure compliance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the CEO.
CANDIDATES MUST POSSESS:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
5-8 years of management-level accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
CPA and/or CMA designation strongly preferred.
Advanced knowledge of Excel and ERP systems.
Experience with Xero, Ekos, and Toast is strongly preferred.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead and inspire a team.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work across diverse business entities.
